Stakeholder Engagement

Active and transparent engagement with all impacted stakeholders

Performance

The Stakeholder Engagement team continues to use the approved Digital Engagement Strategy, with over 1,150,000 pieces of paper estimated to have been saved through use of digital channels since 2020. The team continues to receive positive community feedback in response to the digital engagement strategies. A weekly digital communication is sent to 5000 residents including tailored tunnelling email notifications depending on location. Stakeholder engagement actions undertaken during 2021-2022 are also summarised below:

Bi-monthly meeting with West Protects which resulted in JHCPB implementing a ‘You’ve asked, we’ve listened’ section in the Project, and an ‘Ask the Project series.

  • ‘Ask the Project' Community Day at Rozelle Rail Yards held. 250 members of the community visited the site.
  • Project Community Group established through expressions of interest. This is a forum to establish collaboration between the Project and the immediate community, address any areas of concern and gain feedback on construction plans. First meeting held in November 2021 and subsequently in March 2022 between community advocates and senior project personnel, with positive feedback from all attendees.
  • $20,000 raised for the Harding Miller Foundation during the Project’s end of year ‘Rozelle spends local’ campaign.
  • ~$30,000 spent at local businesses during the Project’s end of year ‘Rozelle spends local’ campaign, purchasing gift vouchers for workers in lieu of an end of year celebration, given the COVID-19 situation.
  • The community was invited to receive a registered Pfizer jab on site at the Rozelle Interchange vaccination hub that was established.
  • Online community information session for tunnelling in the Leichhardt area; attended by 35+ residents.
  • Quarterly updates continue to be sent to between 4500 and 6000 subscribers.
  • Collaboration with Sydney Metro Project to reduce cumulative impact of both projects on the local community
  • On-street parking checks implemented in response to community feedback, to discourage unreasonable worker parking.
  • Bi-weekly Street clean-ups introduced.
  • The Project consulted with Inner West Council on a resident parking scheme, which was rolled out in late 2021 on a select number of streets.
