This Month's Wellness Focus

This Month's Wellness Focus
October 2022 Wellness Focus
Injury Prevention

Welcome to this month's wellness focus – Injury prevention. The month of October is National Safe Work Month, with the theme ‘know safety, work safely’. We will be focussing on a new health and safety area each week, which includes Injuries at work, mental health, managing WHS risk and preventing harm, and safe and healthy work for all. Monday 10th October is recognised as World Mental Health Day. We can all play our part in increasing awareness about which preventive mental health interventions work and World Mental Health Day is an opportunity to do that collectively. It is important for all of us to keep the conversation going around ‘ R U OK?
On our Mental health page, we have great resources to help refresh your understanding of mental health and how you can tune in.
To help make a difference, we will also be doing a team donation for those willing to donate blood on the 27th of October.

World Mental Health Day

This month, on the 10th of October, it is world mental health day. We have some great resources on the Mental Health page that you can go and check out.
Looking after your mental health and wellbeing, and knowing how to support others, has never been more important. Everyone has mental health, and we can all benefit from looking after our own mental health and the mental health of our communities. To make sure that we are supporting your mental health and wellbeing we have trained mental health first aiders (MHFAs) to date the Project has trained 80 people. You will see around the Project some of the orange hi-vis uniforms which are designed with a colourful patch on the collar and the hem of the shirts – these shirts signify that they are a trained Mental Health First Aider. A MHFA can also offer advice on where you can find further help if need be. You can check out this link to see who an on-site MHFA is.
